February 2013

Ikee Tupouata & Fernando Nevarez


Ikee is a team Captain and is the most committed player focused on playing rugby in college next year, as this is his Senior Year.  Fernando Nevarez is a Sophmore who volunteers teaching middle shool children, when not working hard in the classroom and for the Warthogs.  Both Student-Athletes have raised and kept their GPA's above a 3.2.  They are committed on and off of the field and we appreciate their dedication to their study's and their rugby team!

January 2013

Tevita Otuafi - Fremont High School

Tevita is improving as student athlete who shows up to every practice and prepractice tutoring. He is a pleasure to coach and we appreciate his continuous efforts to be responsible. He has received $50 gift certificate to and a Tonga 2011 World Rugby Cup jersey for being Warthog of the Month of January. Keep up the good work!

December 2012

Rafael Cox - Oakland Charter High School

Rafael is a great student athlete who shows up to every practice and works hard to improve at Scrumhalf. He takes advantage of opportunities given to him by the coaching staff and has earned a Warthogs Jersey for being the first of four participants to complete the Mental Toughness Academy modules and he has received $100 gift certificate to for being Warthog of the Month of December. Keep up the good work!

November 2012

Tom Bliss - Oakland Tech

Tom is a student athlete who has done the best job of balancing school effort and attending every rugby practice. He has started off preseason being vocal on the pitch, being a committed player that shows up early & his teammates can count on, and he keeps a good attitude. He always sticks around to clean up the field and put away the lights. Keep up the good work!
