One of the principles that we would like participants of our program take away, is giving back to others. Although a large majority of our participants come from rough neighborhoods and very challenging circumstances, we challenge the participants to look within themselves to assist others in need. Please contact us if you have a community service activity that you would like us to consider. Please call Ryan Burke 650-867-4292 or email, firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.

On Thursday December 13, 2012, the Warthogs collected warm clothing from friends and family and took to the streets with 60 warm pizzas from Little Caesars Pizza to warm and feed the homeless this winter. We assisted homeless in Oakland as well as people in the People's Park in Berkeley, CA.
The Warthogs assisted the Merritt College Horticulture Department by performing yard work, clearing and removal of weeds and other undesired dead plant life in the area to beautify the Horticulture area. See our photos page for pictures of the day.
The Warthogs cleaned up the surrounding area of the lake, cut and removed tree limbs, and removed trash and other debris from the lake. See our photos page for pictures of the day.
The Warthogs traveled to Antioch Fair Grounds to help out OC Jones & Sons, KNBR Radio, and other volunteers improve the current park and ammenities on Saturday, March 12, 2011. We helped paint benches, add new dirt to the perimeter of the 3 baseball diamonds, paint the snack shack, and other work to improve the run down baseball fields. The Hogs worked hard, shared smiles and laughs, and were very respectful. It was another great day to be a Warthog! Thank you to Donat Galicz and OC Jones & Sons for informing us of this community service! See our photos page for pictures of the day.
The Warthogs have teamed up with the Tackling Cancer Foundation (www.tacklingcancer.org) to sell raffle tickets for $10 each to raise money for leading cancer researchers as well as for our rugby program. The Grand Prize is a trip for 2 to the Bahamas for 5 days and two nights. The Warthogs have collected donations from local professional sports teams and business to offer more prizes. If you would like to send us a check made out to "Tackling Cancer" and we will send you the tickets, please contact Coach Burke at email@example.com!
We met with Oakland's PAL to see if they were interested in sponsoring us, such as Sacramento and San Mateo's PAL sponsors their local youth rugby programs. As their budget wouldn't allow for such sponsorship, we offered to teach their youth the game of two hand touch rugby. We are also working on going to local high schools to teach their PE teachers the game as well as the local Boys & Girl clubs here in Oakland. If you are interested in us teaching two hand tag rugby at your school or after school program, please contact us at 650-867-4292.
On Saturday 1/22/11 The Warthogs cut the bushes growing through the fence at the
tennis courts of Brookdale Park. The team did it as a part of Adopt a Park
Community Service in the City of Oakland. We chose to clean this park due to
the TEAM approach that the staff at Brookdale Park take with us. We
grately appreciate their support. After work, a little Basketball, and a BBQ we
headed to TI to watch our former Flyhalf play for Cal's Rugby Team vs. Chico
